THE BIG DRAW 2010
October 2010 is Big Draw month in twenty countries and on five continents. Launched in 2000, this annual initiative has grown from 180 events in the UK to over 1500 worldwide. The Campaign aims to use drawing to connect visitors with museum and gallery collections, urban and rural spaces – and the wider community – in new and enjoyable ways.

Every Big Draw season offers unlimited scope for those who love to draw and those who think they can’t.

Take a look at what’s happening in your area and join an event. More venues are added daily, so be sure to visit again.
Big Draw Day is Saturday 9 October, but events start at the end of September and continue until early November.

Join us on 22 and 23 October for Make your Mark on the Future: From London Bridge to Tower Bridge. At our London Highlight event you can choose from thirty activities at eight venues, and collect your free Daler-Rowney art materials. No one is too young or old to take part in this free drawing bonanza.

It’s not too late to organise an event and enter for a Drawing Inspiration Award. Publicise your plans now on our regional listings pages and use our logo on all marketing materials.Visit www.facebook.com/BigDraw2010 and post information, photos about your event. Tell your friends.

The Big Draw is sponsored by Daler-Rowney and Cass Art.

Watch This Space

I am currently working on a new series of drawings and paintings, the concept is very location based, leading on from past projects.

Originating from the idea of nature and man made structures fighting each other for attention.

Post Cards

All these Postcards were found in a local charity shop, both the sender and receiver are strangers to me.
"Easter. 1975. We went here on Good Friday. Really lovely. Mum and Pop."

Paris 1980 "...the crossing was very smooth we docked on dead on 4 o/c. Snow & fog greeted us, but the weather has been perfect since...Tonight we are in a campsite on the outskirts of Paris. Tomorrow we head for the South..."

THE HOUSE SEEN FROM ACROSS THE LAKE

Found postcards, all three caught my eye, out of a stack of many post cards. This process of selecting what interests you reminds me of the process of making paintings, the choices we make, and question what about the image we find interesting.
Ideas of location, history and travel have been surfacing in my work.

Goodbye 54

This water colour and pen drawing is a commemoration to my house in cheltenham, the image I connect with living there and remember waking up to.
Scaled down from the usual size, due to not being in the studio's anymore.
Sorry for the quality, my camera is broken and needs to be sent away.

Window Framed Clouds

Whilst invigilating at the Jerwood Drawing Prize, I found myself looking at the clouds framed in the windows in the gallery. I made these drawings as a response to that.

Blue Window

This piece represents the view from a window from inside a building.

Cloud Windows

This is a large scale piece, based on the idea of seeing the sky seperated through windows, it has been made using six pieces of paper, but worked on as one. This is inspired by views from the Sears/Willis Tower in chicago.
