Post Cards

All these Postcards were found in a local charity shop, both the sender and receiver are strangers to me.
"Easter. 1975. We went here on Good Friday. Really lovely. Mum and Pop."

Paris 1980 "...the crossing was very smooth we docked on dead on 4 o/c. Snow & fog greeted us, but the weather has been perfect since...Tonight we are in a campsite on the outskirts of Paris. Tomorrow we head for the South..."

THE HOUSE SEEN FROM ACROSS THE LAKE

Found postcards, all three caught my eye, out of a stack of many post cards. This process of selecting what interests you reminds me of the process of making paintings, the choices we make, and question what about the image we find interesting.
Ideas of location, history and travel have been surfacing in my work.

  1. I love this idea. It combines two of my own passions, nostalgia and travel. You should carry on finding more post cards and build up a big collection which might make an interesting exhibition.

  2. I tried to find postcards which were interesting through composition, place, and the stories on the back. That were aged, second hand and for some reason made there way to where I found them.
